Locations Needed for Film/TV, Volunteers/Interns Needed, Discounts for Filmmakers Connection Members

Locations Needed for Film/TV, Volunteers/Interns Needed, Discounts for Filmmakers Connection Members

Hello everyone, (These must be in Nassau County)
1) For a "potential" large car commercial, they're looking for roads they can drive along that are NOT tree-lined. It can't look like fall.  They also looking for various size studios - should have a grid, but doesn't have to be one of the majors (but they do have the contact info for Gold Coast, Grumman, SPP). AND they should be easy areas to film in. If they get this job, they will likely film 6 days in Nassau, right before and after Thanksgiving. If you have any suggestions, please email debfilm@aol.com and reference Sibley.
2)SCOUTING TODAY - For a Price Topper commercial, they need a Victorian House (not a mansion). Mostly interior, lots of wood molding inside.  Must be in film-friendly area, no high village fees.  Only a 4 hour shoot. Shooting 11/8, but scouting today - already looking in Valley Stream and Rockville Centre (if you know of any particular blocks -let me know!) and other areas close to Oceanside (the other part of the shoot).  If you have any suggestions, please e-mail debfilm@aol.com and reference McGrail.
3)For a TV pilot- needs mansions on a budget!  Has about $2,000 per day for a 10 day shoot ($20,000 total). Needs kitchen, ballroom, bedroom.  Castle'ish if possible.  Can't have high village fees.  If you have any suggestions, please email debfim@aol.com and reference Playtime.
I'm sure there will be more later!

The Nassau County Film Office needs at least one volunteer/intern, and will need more in the coming months:

Internships/Volunteer Positions Available at the Nassau County Film Office
The Nassau County Film Office has nonpaying, part-time internships and volunteer positions available in our Mineola office.  The Nassau County Film Office helps production companies find locations and services when they are filming in the Nassau County area.  We work with major studio films, independent films, commercials, industrial videos and fashion photography.

We work very closely with the Long Island Film/TV Foundation on producing the Filmmakers Connection Meetings and the Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE).

Some of our past interns have gone on to become Promotions Managers of local radio stations, lawyers at the State Attorney’s Office, Location Scouts, Placement Managers in the entertainment field, and other varied positions in the film and commercial industries.

You must be good on the phone, computer literate, dependable and detail oriented.  The Nassau County Film Office is open from Monday – Friday, 9 am – 4:45 pm.  We ask that you work 2 – 3 days within those days/hours.

A successful internship can earn you a highly respected letter of recommendation, college credits, contacts in the film industry and possible job referrals.  If you are interested in a career in the film/tv/commercial industries, make yourself a more viable job candidate by learning what goes into a film shoot from the ground level up.  We provide training.

Please e-mail your resume and the days/hours you are available to dmarkowitz@nassaucountyny.gov.

For further information, please contact Director Debra Markowitz at 516 571-3168 or e-mail toDMarkowitz@NassauCountyNY.gov.

Thank you for your attention.

Best,
Debbie
